What are your goals for the second half of the season?
”I'd really like to get onto the podium before the end of the season but we're taking things one step at a time, so the first area of focus is to find a strong base setting for the bike. I'd also like to develop a faster way of adapting to the circuits and providing feedback to the team to ensure that we can be as competitive as possible in qualifying and race days.”
What has surprised you the most in MotoGP? What has impressed you the most?
”I've been surprised by the sheer size of the organisation and the level of interest and support it receives in terms of media coverage. I was also really surprised at the size of the crowds that each circuit attracts all over the world. The most impressive aspect, for me, has been the technology and the ability that the bike has to be better than you, the rider.”
Have you been following this year's Superbike World Championship? What do you think of it?
”I've followed it as much as possible and when I see the same riders at the front of the filed, I sometimes miss the aggression and clashing of fairings that we used to enjoy. I've been surprised by Nori Haga's inconsistency and the fact that is letting Troy Bayliss lead the series. He's a deserving leader for that series but it's also been nice to see Troy Corser coming back strong at this stage in the season.”
